Dr Carly Mayberry
I’m Carly. I’m a Clinical Psychologist and Clinical Neuropsychologist who works with both children and adults. I’m a huge advocate for self-development, mental health and equal access to opportunity. I’m passionate about people and their health. In terms of health, I believe in a holistic approach, where good health is measured by both physical and emotional wellbeing. I’ve always been interested in the power of the mind and in the ability to help others and psychology seemed like a natural career for me.
Something that has largely shaped who I am today was an unexpected cancer diagnosis in 2019. Needless to say, I never planned on that happening. However, it had an enormous impact on my life, and again, changed my perspectives and what I valued. I was able to find clarity amongst the mess and was determined to turn my story into one of strength, resilience and success.
This is my second draft of life. Through a traumatic diagnosis that turned my life upside down, I discovered not only how to survive but also, how to thrive. By managing my own health and taking time to reflect on life, I have gained new insight and understanding into how many people are merely ‘surviving’ in their own lives. We can all take our wellbeing to another level of happiness and fulfillment. We don’t just have to survive life - to get through the day, the week, the year - we can enjoy life too, and we can all thrive.
In life, we are all living a second or third, fourth or fifth draft of the life we dreamed of. Maybe that degree didn’t work out, maybe you didn’t get the job you wanted, maybe your relationship didn’t work out, maybe something else stumbled across your path. Life is an unexpected path of twists and turns and it’s all about how we navigate our experiences. We can use our experiences to grow or they can overwhelm and consume us. I’ve chosen the former. To step forth from the difficult situations that life throws on the path, and roll with the punches, recreating and redesigning my life as many times as I need to. This is where it has landed me and I really hope you will join me.
